During our busy lives, we often seek solace in nature. We are blessed with the abundant tropical environment in our country and get to admire the greens and blues of nature. However, color has always stood out to us as a mark of joy: the yellow skies that envelop us as the sun sets. The captivating hue allows us to reminisce about fond memories, gathering our children to witness and savor the skies until they fade into the night. The significance of the sky extends beyond cherished memories as it connects us to a joyous time synonymous with happy hour- a period to unwind and embrace leisure.
In light of this connection to blissful moments, the essence of relaxation is what Yellow Sky embodies in each of our delightful bottles.

We locally source 100% real fruits from Bali and Java
The fruits are processed in small batches
They are naturally fermented with specific yeast stains free from additives, chemicals, and preservatives
The wine is then aged for at least 3 months
Minimal filtration results in a naturally cloudy wine that we bottle and pack using sustainable materials
Our organic waste is then turned into compost and donated to farmers
For ten years, our hearts have been drawn to the concept of contributing to sustainability. It wasn't until 2018, during our fascinating journey at Kulkul Farm Bali for the Permaculture Design Course, that our passion found its roots. The experience instilled in us a deep appreciation for the food systems that prioritize nurturing soil and water. In our reflection, our passion for a meaningful goal started to take shape. We strive to evolve towards a future where the innovative practice of food forest agriculture, a sustainable cultivation method reflecting the harmony of a forest ecosystem, guides us. Our planned approach is a heartfelt commitment born from the discovery of our genuine regard for the well-being of everyone and everything involved in the natural world, enriching the lives of local farmers and fostering a sustainable ecosystem.
Amidst the pandemic, we observed a plight faced by many farmers in Bali—left with no way to sell their harvest, fruits withering outside their homes. Our concept ignited when we found that creating fruit wines involves using mature fruits, offering a solution to repurpose the surplus harvests. This revelation became our chance to transform excess produce into something meaningful and sustainable, a small step in supporting our local agricultural community.
Our journey kicked off right in our home kitchen during the pandemic. Suddenly, our pantry became this bustling research and development hub, with fermentation buckets lining the shelves. It's been two and a half years of tweaking and perfecting, supported by the encouragement of our loved ones. Now, with hearts full and bottles ready, we're excited to share our fruit wines with the world.
Fruit wines are alcoholic beverages fermented from fruits other than grapes, often infused with additional flavors from other fruits, flowers, or herbs. They can be enjoyed either as still or sparkling beverages.
Indonesia is blessed with an abundance of fruits and vegetables, offering a rich palette for crafting delicious fermented drinks. Why limit ourselves to grapes? Instead, let's celebrate our local harvest and harness the diverse flavors of tropical fruits grown right here. We experiment with a wide variety of these fruits to create the perfect balance, ensuring you can savor unique and refreshing wines that capture the essence of our tropical paradise.
Natural wine is crafted with minimal intervention, allowing the fruits to showcase their authentic character. Often adhering to organic or biodynamic practices, it abstains from additives such as commercial yeasts, sulfites, and sugar. Typically unfiltered, natural wines retain distinctive flavors and textures. Though this approach may result in slight variations from bottle to bottle, it contributes to the dynamic and diverse appeal of these wines.
At Yellow Sky, our fruit wines are crafted exclusively from 100% natural fruits grown in the lush regions of Bali and Java. Following a process similar to grape wine production, we meticulously handcraft each batch in small quantities. Our fruits undergo natural fermentation with carefully selected yeast strains, allowing their true essence to shine through. We do not add any chemicals, colors, or preservatives to our wines. With minimal filtration, our wines retain their natural cloudiness, embodying the authentic flavors of the fruits they originate from.
Although our winemaking process shares similarities with natural wines, we refrain from labeling our wines as "natural" because of the ambiguity surrounding this term. Advocates of natural wine often highlight fermentation happening exclusively through the fruit's skin. However, as we use yeast in our fermentation process, we opt to describe our wines as "low intervention" instead.
We use glass bottles, which are environmentally friendly and recyclable. By sourcing our fruits locally, we reduce carbon emissions from transportation. Additionally, we collaborate with Urban Compost to process our waste into compost, which we then donate to local farmers. This enriches the soil where they grow the fruits, completing a sustainable cycle.
Keep it in a dry cool place, away from direct sunlight. Refrigerate after opening.
Fruit wines should be served cool, similar to white grape wine. The ideal serving temperature would be between 7ºC and 9ºC. This helps to bring out the fresh fruit qualities of the wine. Yellow Sky Fruit Wines are also delicious and served with ice. Keep them refrigerated.
Fruit wines are usually made to be enjoyed right away, like white wines, typically within 1-2 years. But some fruits, like dark stone fruits and berries, can be stored longer, around 3-5 years.
For a fresh, fruity wine with a clear scent, it's best to drink it within a year after it's bottled. After that, the wine develops a softer fruitiness and stronger flavor, like port wine, making it more of a dessert wine.
